Just another day over here. I took this shot this afternoon. It’s being fun to have my camera always with me. I go to the streets looking for some new gaze into the ordinary things. The same old story…this thing to find something new among ordinary… I mean, It is an old story of photography, but everyone see a different thing every moment. That is why photography is so special.
Maybe you that follows my blog have seen this landscape before. Actually the Arpoador is a cliché of the city, that is, not only in my blog, but in any postcard or reference to Rio de Janeiro. I was passing nearby and I finally decided to use the variable ND filter I had bought months ago for a long exposure photography. I tried six or seven shots, and curiously the first one was the best. [ISO 50 – F22 – 28mm – 20 sec]. But I soon realized that I have a lot to improve on this long exposure technique. I still need to understand the best weather conditions and the best time. I noticed that the cloud displacement could end up spoiling the photo. In this case here, it gave an effect that I consider the limit of acceptable; the others were a bit ugly when it came to capturing the movement of the clouds. Which leads me to think that a day of complete clear or completely cloudy skies are better components for this type of photography. I want to study this subject further.
I’m at a good time in my life. I’m pretty focused on what I have to do, and I feel free. My only responsibility is to evolve in what I do, in what I love to do – images. I’m where I wanted to be, and to continue being like this depends on me and on my evolution. Aware that nothing is forever and that everything is in motion. I just have to watch out and give my best. These photos are just a few random places I had to be during this week for a shoot. While filming, I tryed to make some pictures too. I turned a kind of youtuber (only behing the camera) to a local newspaper. My new profession seems to me to be very modern. I were hired to filming, interviewing and editing. I spend the days chasing stories about the city and interesting people. All that I wanted to do.
Here in the neighborhood, besides the lack of urban infrastructure that I am trying to capture as seen in the previous posts, we can also find some beautiful scenery. The Pedra da Gávea is one of the most enjoyable tours in the region. Now in the summer, however, I do not feel like doing the hike that leads to the summit because the strong heat can make this activity something close a torture! In the winter, instead, in the middle of the year, I like to walk through this forest. This post is my entry to the photo challenge Tour Guide .
I do not really see myself as an artist. I am like a promise that is never fulfilled. Someone is always in the learning stage. This week I might print this landscape here from Rio de Janeiro. Just to remember that this city has beautiful curves when we look only for them … good week to all!
Today I went to pick up the second frame of the series that I have been working titled ‘minimal landscapes’. Although it is not a very cheap process – printing and framing – the pleasure of seeing your photograph as a decorative object, ready to compose an environment, a room, an office, is something very satisfying. I want to keep doing this. In this case, I will even put the picture on sale. I am in an online store here in Brazil, but if I have the luck and the privilege of an interested party from abroad that would like to purchase the work, please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or whtapp + 55 21 9 8412 5364 – paypal accepted:)
Men working hard and risking the dismantling of a Christmas tree … sooner than ever … Rio, January 2018
Here is my first print and framed photo of my series titled “minimal landscape”, where I explore a kind of clean and unsatured landscape pictures. I had this idea after realizing that the vast majority of landscape photographers nowadays explore images with a lot of saturation and dynamic range. I wanted to do something different. I wanted to work in minimalist shades and tonalities because considering these photographs as objects of decoration for rooms and environments in general, it is much more pleasant to present images, say, simpler as to the volume of information in the frame, as well as in the range of shades .. . This series is still being produced. I posted some time ago other images of this work. Anyone interested in having one of these pictures on their wall, do not hesitate to contact me. email@example.com / wtsapp +5521984125364
