what I’ve been saying

Another example of what I’ve been saying about always taking the camera with me every time I leave the house. I just had to go get some money to pay my gardener, but then I decided to go into an old bar and sit down. I answered some messages through whatsapp, and suddenly I took the camera from the backpack. I discovered this framework that captured this perimeter and chair at the same time as an outside area of the bar where several people were passing by. I tried several shots until I got this boy walking. His green shirt was also a good counterpoint to the red of the chairs. And so we follow. I do not know until when I will continue in this phase of daily photography, which for me today is an experiment, because I also work with video. In fact, one of the dilemmas that I live is if I make videos or still photography.  It is not easy to do both in one sigle day.  My videos are made in another camera, the blackmagic pocket cinema, so is challenging to carry both cameras at the same time. The past few days, as you may noticed in the blog, I am quite active with still photography and I love it. But the video side is calling me too. 🙂 Nice dilemas…

a new discovery every day

Has been very stimulating for me to leave the house with the camera in hand since last week. In fact, the kind of photography that has always interested me is the landscape. But this type of photography, almost always, requires great displacements, trips, and therefore, the production of them at least in my case, occurs in a much lower rate. So, since last week I decided to work with what I have, that is, my own neighborhood, my own city. I then turned my attention to street photography, as seen in previous posts. I do not think these photos are magnificent from a technical or even an artistic point of view. But in my opinion, and from the feedback I’ve been receiving, they have something interesting because they record a small fraction of the time in a certain space (the Rio das Pedras neighborhood, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) where we can contemplate a certain drama of life of people living in a place with precarious urban infrastructure. Life here is not easy, definitely. The great discovery that I have made when taking the camera daily is that even if the place does not change, that is, even photographed the same streets, the same places, and even the same people every day, there is always something new to see, a new discovery every day, a new look every day. This is amazing. Photography provides a new discovery; the scenes, lights, textures that for me and for most people went unnoticed till then. I find that fascinating. This post is only to complement the previous one, life is in color with a few more photos.
